Grandma is blogging...Alert the media

Friday, March 5. I'm subbing today at Lakeside School for Lori Williams, high school math teacher. I have an hour break before the next class, so I want to note some things on my mind.

My good friend, Susan, has accepted a position at the Eufaula Parks & Recreation. She will be a super person for them to have on their staff. Susan will be able to wear jeans and shorts on the job. She's the one who told me about subbing opportunites at Lakeside.

I had to set the alarm to get me up this morning which is something I never had to do when I worked full time. Bill mentioned this morning that I sure have been sleeping well. I feel so good to be able to sleep as long as my body needs/wants.

I brought my menu planning stuff with me to work on today but it hasn't worked out to be a good thing to do while the students work on work sheets, etc. Guess I'll have to tackle that later.

Here's a run down of some of things we did this week:
Monday, March 1:  My first day of substitute teaching at Lakeside. Worked with first grade. Not my cup of tea!!  Went to bed early.  They wore me out.
Tuesday, March 2:  At 12:30 p.m. Bill rented a post hole digger that hooks up to something that looks like a chain-saw.  We went to the country and drilled two post holes for wood duck nests; filled them with concrete.  Drilled four holes for fence posts at the end of the pond nearest Lonnie's place.  We're trying to stop debris from Lonnie's dump site from coming into the pond after a hard rain. Again we filled these holes with concrete. Bill is going to try to find some hog wire to put up to keep the debris on Lonnie's side of the fence.  Then we went to the camper and drilled another hole for a pole that will help support the famous martin gourd line.  We were tired, hit a root, and the drill threw both of us to the ground.  We were a little scraped but otherwise okay.  Then it was to the field in front of the camper where we drilled two holes for fruit trees and planted the trees. We returned the drill to the rental place by 4:30.  We slept like children that night. That was hard work for two old folks.
Wednesday, March 3:  Waited at home for Riley Flooring to come fix our wood floor problem. They were no shows. We basically wasted the day waiting for them. I worked on one of the living room pillows. Bill's friend from Phenix City came by for coffee and to talk.  Went back to farm to work on line holding gourds. Our original fix didn't hold.  We reinforced the wire with another wire, rethreaded the wire through the guides, and finally got the gourds hanging nice and high.  The line is very secure now.
Thursday, March 4:  Shopped at WalMart, Peoples (?sp), and Goodwill for flat shoes to wear to substitute and to church.  We ended up going to Dothan. Got a couple of pairs of shoes. Had a weird sound come from right front tire of car. Took it to Toyota place which was a waste of time. We couldn't get the car to make the noise for them to hear. Drove it home without any trouble. Strange.
